Additional information on Platinum

Typically, Platinum in the jewelry industry has been a mix of 95% Platinum and 5% Iridium. This blend will give a soft and malleable result that makes it easy to work with, but it will easily dent, scratch and deformate. If you want a Platinum casting that is less suscectable to dents, scratches and deformations, we recomend to use the Platinum-Ruthenium blend that consists of 95% Platinum and 5% Ruthenium. Keep in mind that beneficts, comes with some side effects. Using this kind of blend you will have a casting that is harder to work with, and is mosre sucectable to crack during the working process.

Gold Allergy? No problem

Ok, let's clarify this concept a bit. When people tells that they are allergic to gold, they typically aren't. What they are allergic to is Nickel. This is a very common alloy used in gold blends to make it more durable. So if you know that the person who is going to receive the model you are making has "Gold Allergy" let us know, that way we can make your gold casting NICKEL FREE and get that person to enjoy your jewelry.

Silver Blends

There are several silver blends out in the market. Typicaly when talking about silver we mean the .925 Sterling. At Starwax we can provide you many different blends of silvers that are much less common such as:
Argentium silver .935 that is a modern sterling silver alloy, containing 93.5% silver. The traditional sterling alloy (92.5% silver + 7.5% copper) is modified by removing some of the copper and adding the metalloid germanium.
Silver-Platinum that is a blend of silver with a small percentage of platinum in it, this mix has all the characteristics of silver, but makes it much less likely to turnish.
Argen Z120 SilverThis is a blend of silver that is made by Argen, and it contains Gold and Platinum, for a jewelry piece that will look great.
